House Crisis Solved

As my first blog I wanted to write about a startup that I am very passionate about, don't get me wrong I am a fan of all startups that are on my website but Brick Work is a company that I like and you may too. There is a huge housing crisis going on in California and Brick Work is coming up with a way to find space to build more homes. Brick Work is use zoning analysis and can figure out if there is space to put an ADU, Accessory Dwelling Unit, on the property.

Because the ADU is on the same property as the house it increases the value of the property significantly and provides space for another family to live in. This is a win-win for both sides as the owner is getting rent and the renter has a place to stay for a relatively decent price. You may be thinking great how is this useful on a much greater scale, well this industry has an 80% YOY revenue growth and is in a $6.5 billion target market which means that there is a lot of space to grow. In addition the new SB-9 bill that just passed in California, you can split lots and build duplexes. ADUs are an environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and sustainable solution in the long term.

You have a house and you are interested what does Brick Work do for you. Effective January 1st, 2022 Brick Work plans to create partnerships with the homeowners where they develop the ADU and offer a zero out-of-pocket cost for the homeowner. They have multiple plans that you can follow, below you find more.

I think that there is a need for a platform like this to exist that empowers the owners. I like to focus on startups that help both sides, kind of like TeamDFI, shameless plug. When both sides are winning it is easy to get behind and people will ultimately want to work with them. The ADU will increase the value of the property and they will be getting a percentage of the rent and Brickwork will be getting the rest of the rent. It will be fascinating to see how Brick Work will be tackling the housing crisis.
